It was a real highlight connecting with our whānau at the recent Whānau Zoo Day. Seeing our tamariki, rangatahi, and pakeke come together was something truly special. We look forward to seeing even more of you next year.
A special thank you as well to our rangatahi who joined the recent Rangatahi Rautaki webinar. Your whakaaro were inspiring and exciting, and we are proud of the energy and vision you are bringing forward.
We’re looking forward to continuing these kōrero at our upcoming Hui Rautaki in Tāmaki on 30 May and Waitakaruru on 6 June. This is an important opportunity for whānau to share your aspirations and help shape the future vision of Ngāti Pāoa. For those unable to join ā-tinana, we will be sharing an online link soon so you can still contribute your whakaaro. We encourage you to come along and have your voice heard.
Behind the scenes, we’ve also been working on practical ways to support whānau through current cost of living and fuel pressures, beginning with the Kora Fuel Card. More information on how to access this is included below.

Whānau Zoo Day
E mihi kau ana ki a koutou i tae mai ki Te Rā Whare Kararehe o Ngāti Pāoa!
Thanks to everyone who joined us at the zoo for our Whānau Zoo Day on Saturday May 2nd! It was great to see many new and old whānau faces come together and do something fun together as whānau! This is a kaupapa that Ngāti Pāoa Iwi Trust feels privileged to be able to share out with our uri whakaheke, so that our whānau can get the opportunity to create memories for our tamariki! Those who attended would have received an email with whānau photos that were taken upon arrival, we’ve shared a couple here so those of you who missed out can get excited for more kaupapa like this upon the horizon!

Taiohi Tūhoruhoru leadership programme
On the 15 April, we held Whīkoi tō Whakapapa, the first of three wānanga in the Taiohi Tūhoruhoru programme.
The programme aims to develop culturally resilient leaders of the future, grounded in a strong sense of belonging and connection to their whakapapa, whenua, reo, tikanga and identity.
Among the many highlights of the day was the bus trip to Ngāti Pāoa tūtohu whenua including Makomako, Pūkorokoro, Tāpapakanga and Waitawa.
The second wānanga will be held in Tāmaki on the 23rd of May.
Ki Rō Kura
Despite the recent removal of Te Tiriti o Waitangi from the Education and Training Act, we continue to work with schools in Tāmaki that are committed to building genuine relationships with Ngāti Pāoa. This will ensure that our tamariki and our rangatahi will have access to Māori language, culture and local stories at school.
